Dr. Lemmen als Tagungsleiter auf der Bühne

The anniversary symposion „Düsseldorf Update Ophthalmology DUO“, hosted by PD Dr. Lemmen as a conference leader on May 11, 2019, gave over 200 participants the opportunity to dive deeply into the subject of retinal diseases.
Apart from many doctors, a lot of interested and affected patients came to inform about ways of therapy for various retinal diseases, such as macular degeneration or diabetes-induced retinopathy.

Latest studies were presented

The leading professors of ophthalmology spoke and discussed current themes in 20–30 minute slots.

Among them, Prof. Dr. H. Hoerauf who talked about „trials and tribulations“ of optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Prof. Dr. Gerhard K. Lang reported on „wide-angle representation of the fundus from a morphologist’s view“ and PD Dr. Randolf A. Widder introduced to „modern glaucoma surgery“.

While PD Dr. Lothar Krause gave the audience an „update on postoperative cystiod macular edema after cataract surgery“, PD Dr. Klaus D. Lemmen spoke about the „history of ophthalmology“ in a surprising way.

Three more updates were given concerning the issues proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic macular edema, presented by Prof. Dr. Nicolas Feltgen, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Lang, and Dr. Georg Spital.

After an outlook into the future of age-related macular degeneration by Prof. Dr. Daniel Pauleikhoff, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kellner informed about the therapy of hereditary retinal dystrophies.
